Gestalt: Write Ruby, Python and XAML in your HTML pages
Jul 21, 2009 In Development By Nishant KotharyWe just launched Gestalt, a project we've been working on for the past couple of months. From the site:
Gestalt is a library released by MIX Online Labs that allows you to write Ruby, Python & XAML code in your (X)HTML pages. It enables you to build richer and more powerful web applications by marrying the benefits of expressive languages, modern compilers, AJAX & RIAs with the write » save » refresh development model of the web.
I'm sure a few of us will probably dive into why we're so excited about this particular project over the coming weeks, but for now, we invite you to read about Gestalt, check out the samples, download the library and TextMate bundles, of course, and tell us what you think about it. Oh, and be sure to tweet it out to the world.
Thanks for being a part of the MIX Online community. If twitter is your thing, follow us on there.
ps. Don't forget to say "Hello!" to the newest addition to our little family, the Gorilla.

Ha, thanks, we may be going to have some fun with this.
Instal Zeepe from here:
http://www.zeepe.com/zeepeinstall/
and then Run (all of) this:
runzeepe: http://www.zeepe.com/gestalt/samples/XAML/cheshire.zpa
More to follow …
Hi Jerry,
Is that cheshire.zpa running on a live Zeepe server? Seem to be working fine. Cool!
Hi Joshua
Yep, it’s live. It doesn’t do a lot, but I wanted to check that the host doc’s direct reference to the xaml file would work when delivered from a server whereas it won’t from file:// or (likely) from Zeepe .zapf or .exe packages.
I guess that this is part of the SL sandbox, and not something we can work around in licensed Zeepe.
@Jerry — Correct; external XAML is always loaded via HTTP.
Thanks Joshua … is there any particular reason foir that, or could someone be persuaded to change it?
Jerry
Found down the back of the dev sofa:
